Arrest of Jesus
Jesus to the Father who gave his full approval to drink to the dregs the cup of His anger against sin, it is not now useful to wait longer. The Jesus Amen hardly mentioned, a troop of armed soldiers led by Judas, raided the place where He is with His disciples. The arrest of Jesus will lead, between Him and those present, has three significant types of confrontation:
first confrontation: Jesus and Judas
Jesus is the hypocrisy over the treachery which he demonstrated in the way he chose to tell the troops what He has to stop. No doubt, if Judas by his gesture sign the condemnation of Jesus, Jesus, by His remark, made the same thing for his old friend who betrayed him. The words spoken here by Jesus will never leave Judas, bewildered by the sudden realization of the horror of his actions, devoured by the worm of remorse irreparable, will find thereafter no alternative but suicide escape. Unfortunately for him, in vain!
Judas is the proof that even Satan has no friends. His accomplices are only temporary tools he uses for specific purposes, before being left to themselves and their own conviction. This is not Jesus who is here, by the treachery of Judas, an impasse. Is Judas! In the book, he does for his own misfortune, that doing what is written: Psalm 41.10, which was determined in advance so that Christ Jesus is the Savior of the world: Proceedings 2.23 .
second confrontation: Jesus and the disciples
what was about to happen, the disciples remained faithful responded. No way for them to leave without putting up minimal resistance. Without waiting for Jesus' instructions on what to do, one of them, whom John identifies as Pierre: Jean 18.10 , seized the sword to cut the ear of a servant of the high priest. He received in return that the disapproval of the Master who, fixing his mistake and giving once again demonstrated that he was healed at that very instant the ear of the wounded victim of the wrath of Peter.
The figure of Jesus at this very moment is significant. It is obvious that if he had been retained by those who, subsequently, appealed to him, the whole history of the world was changed. Never, under any circumstances, for any reason, it is justifiable that a single drop of blood being shed in defense of the cause of Christ. Whoever believes in taking the sword to defend a legitimate interest of Christ, is totally misguided. Because Christ, in His nature is different from all and above all, the weapons of His servants should fight for him in any way be a replica of those used by his enemies. Use the same weapons as them, is incurring the same way they do, His disapproval. "When you fight against a bad opponent with the same weapons, the same means that it is necessarily to identify him. third confrontation: Jesus and the religious leaders
Jesus is against them the hypocrisy of their behavior and, this time, the shadowy nature of their actions. Every day, in fact, Jesus was, if they wanted, they thank you. Ever, on any occasion, it has sought to flee or to hide them to act as they do against him, against them from behind or on the sly. One last time, if they want to hear it, the fact that Jesus was, permanently, in the light is compelling evidence that it is in God and God alone that He lives: John 3.20 -21 . In contrast, the attitude of the chiefs, came by night and secretly take Jesus, demonstrates one thing: what inspires them is not the God of light, but the power of darkness!
All facts and words recorded here by Luke in the arrest of Jesus reflect a single reality: only culprits in this case are those around him: Judas, by his treachery and perfidy, the disciples, by their bad reaction, the Heads of their cowardice. Only one is correct: He is. Throughout the rest of the story until the resurrection is not going to confirm this fact!
